Our membership range is wide and subscriptions for the year run from 1 April to 31 March. Only paid-up members may use the green and Club and represent the club in matches. However, we always extend a warm welcome to visitors and prospective bowlers.
Interested in joining the club?
Want to try out the game? We can provide bowls for the prospective player – all you need are flat-soled shoes. Why not give it a try – we are a really friendly crowd and offer a warm welcome to any potential players of all ages – you are never too old or too young!

When you join the bowls club you automatically become a member of the Hungerford Club and can use the bar, the snooker tables, play darts and join in with the various events put on throughout the year.
When you join you will receive a welcome pack and your membership card for the club, which should be carried when using the club, and a car sticker which needs to be displayed when using the club car park.
Use of the club facilities
You are able to use the green every day from 12 noon and can join one of our organised roll ups or come down on your own to practice by yourself.
Included in your welcome pack will be your fixture booklet which shows when the green is in use.
The mats, jacks and bowl gatherers are available nearby. You will have access to the pavilion with changing facilities and toilets.
Club Roll Ups
For those new to the bowling club a great way to get started and involved is to come to the regular roll ups.
We hold club Roll Ups three times a week. These are practice sessions where there will be someone present to help you with your bowling.
- Monday Evening between 6.15 and 8pm
- Tuesday Afternoon between 2 and 4pm
- Friday Afternoon between 2 and 4pm
The dress code is casual dress, but, of course, with bowls shoes for all Roll Ups.
We do ask for a £1 fee when you roll up as this helps with the cost of maintaining the green.
Competitions
We take part in a men’s league called the KLV, for those gentlemen over 55. There is also a mixed league called the Ashley Baker, which is open to all.
If you wish to be considered for either of these please write your name on the match lists which can be found on the notice boards on the ladies pavilion. The men’s Captain will sort out the teams and this will then be put up on the same notice board so you can see if you are playing. This sheet will also give full details of position in the team, and time of departure if playing away and any cost involved for travel.
We have a friendly match, against a local club, nearly every weekend and these are a good introduction to match play and what each player is expected to do. It also gives you a chance to meet other players and visit other clubs. Again if you wish to take part in one of these games please put your name on the match sheet on the pavilion notice boards.
The ladies of the club also have their own friendly matches against other ladies teams and again a match sheet can be found on the notice board outside the ladies pavilion.
We also have club knockout competitions every year, with trophies for the winners and runners up, and details of these are sent out with the membership renewal letters.
On Friday afternoons at 2pm we hold a club league, which is open to all, and full details of this game can be found in your fixture booklet. This is a good way to play in a proper game and meet other players and dress for this game is casual.
