Temporary Membership

Recently the committee was asked to clarify the rules about temporary membership.

A person over 18 may apply for temporary membership. They must provide an address*, telephone number and email address which will be recorded on their application form.

As with any other application for membership their name, address and contact details should be added to the new members list with a proposer and seconder (one of whom must be a committee member) and their application will be voted on at the next committee meeting.

Temporary Members are entitled to all the benefits and privileges of Full Membership except that they shall not be qualified to be officers or members of the Committee nor to vote as Members. Their membership is for the Indoor Sports section. They are entitled to use all of the rooms of the Club with the exception of the billiards room (when they must be accompanied by a Full Member). Temporary members may not use the bowling green or tennis courts.

The duration of their membership is four calendar months from the day they pay their subscription. Once their temporary membership has expired a person may not apply for temporary membership until eight calendar months have elapsed.

By payment of the subscription, the applicant agrees to abide by the rules and code of conduct of the Club at all times.

Data Protection Act: By submitting an application for temporary membership the applicant agrees that the details on the application form may be stored on one or more computers. The data will be used solely for the purpose of the Club’s administration.

* If the applicant permanently lives on board a canal boat then a C.A.R.T. boat index number and boat name may be used in place of an address. Record both the name and number of the boat.
