The Hungerford Club
The club has a regular programme of special activities thoughout the year, including curry nights, barbecues and beer festivals.
Now that the winter is approaching, the monthly curry night is starting once again. Watch the notice board in the club for further details.
During the August bank holiday weekend, we held our second beer festival which was another tremendous success. The weather stayed kind and all those that came along said what a great time they had. Thanks must go to all who put in so much work on the bar, food and organisation.
Do you miss the days of visiting the pub on a Sunday lunchtime, snacks on the bar and lively chat and debate followed by Sunday lunch? Why not visit the club, this can still be found every Sunday in the Croft - you can also enter the weekly meat draw, £1 per ticket with joints of meat, chickens and meat vouchers from the Hungerford butchers to be won. The draw takes place at 1.30 (you don't have to be there to win).
Now the summer is over and the nights are drawing in, we hope are running the indoor bowls league again during the Winter.
The snooker "spoons" competition is drawing to a close for this year with 2 matches left. It is hoped that this will start again in the New year - once again, watch the notice board for details.
Margaret Wilsons quiz have started and are normally held on the last Friday of the month, teams of up to 4 people are welcome to enter for what is usually a lively quiz, together with debate with question master Peter Harries and question setter Margaret over some of the answers - their word is however final!
West Berkshire CAMRA members held their AGM at the club on 11th June after which they presented the club with the West Berks CAMRA 2013 club of the year award. They congratulated the club on winning this award again, making it the third year in a row that we have recieved it saying it was due to the efforts of the club for their continued support in promoting the drive for real ale throughout the year. Our own thanks go to former steward Jim Lawton and all those who have helped him during the year.
As you can see there is a lot happening in the club and everyone is welcome to join in. If you would like any further details on any of the above, call in and see our steward Marie who will be happy to help.
